another version of our self-destruction is that our collective sin (i.e. our liberal live and let live values) will cause fire and brimstone to hail upon us in our comfortable little lives. This is an old story whether its god who directly sends man-eating angels to munch on us, as in "Legion" or we, as in the "Book of Eli", destroy ourselves and it's left for Denzel Washington/John the Baptist to roam the desolate plains Road Warrior style redeeming us.
(P.S. as I'm writing this the apocalypse is obviously in it's early stages as Google, YouTube, Newser, and Wikipedia are are down so i'll post the previews separately in a couple hours if i don't get eaten by angels first)
